Bluing shows well throughout, could use a good polishing if anything and has some light spots of wear - nothing major. Wood stocks are also in nice shape, normal bumps and bruises throughout. Bore is excellent. Comes topped with a Williams Twilight 2.5x20mm scope which seems to have discoloured to a gold finish. Also comes with the leather Marlin strap pictured. I have a very good condition vintage Winchester 1885 in .45 70 that I'm prepared to sell. It started out as a .38-55 and was sleeved to .22 l.r.. I had the 28 inch, half octagon, half round heavy barrel bored and rechambered by Ron K. Smith in Alberta to .45 70 and an aperture sight installed. As you would expect with an RKS barrel, it is accurate. It has correct walnut stocks, refinished, with the heavy crescent butt plate. The action wall has been reduced on the right side to more easily eject spent .22 l.r. shells; Mr. Smith assured me this does not reduce the strength of the action. The lever/trigger guard has been modified to make levering faster. I've got $2800 invested in this rifle which I'd like to recover. I'll split actual shipping costs with the buyer. Winchester Model 1894 38-55 Ref #1040 This Winchester is a lever action, sporting rifle, octagon barrel, full mag. Dated 1895 Stock is very good – good. Small tang crack 1” long, and a minor chip gone at tang. Forearm has an app. 2” crack and a few very minor cracks. The stock has typical bang marks. Finish appears original or period correct. Original metal recoil pad fits well. Barrel is 26” long with sights intact, rear sight may have been replaced at one time, again period correct. Bore has black powder corrosion but it’s clean now and has rifling top to bottom. Bluing appears original and app. 75-85% throughout. There are bumps and scratches on metal and evidence of minor surface rusting. Screws have been used, but in very good shape. The lever functions well, safety checks out and the trigger pull, and drop are good. Firing pin is evident and protrudes when pushed on. Ejector is intact and tight, and magazine follower functions correctly. Overall, I grade this firearm as very good and should be fully functional. I did not test with snap caps or fire. Only reasonable offers are considered. Low ball offers will not be responded to. Trades in person only. The firearms and accessories I sell may be new or used and are usually acquired through estate liquidations. I visually inspect them and check basic operation only and share what I know or find in the description and photos. They are not live test fired. This is a really nice excellent condition 22 rifle. Made sometime between 1947-49. So pretty rare. Tube feed bolt action that can hold 20 rounds of long rifle! Stock has been refinished. Majority of the bluing is still there. Comes with a side scope mount that is the weaver base. This rifle is built like a tank and super accurate with that peep sight setup.
