It weighs 5 ounces/141g. The AK Master Mount™ patented optic mounts are unique and purpose built products for serious users. They are built as rugged as the rifle itself. It's low profile with a low axis over bore. It also has a unique quick release "Dual Axis Locking" lever and a “2 in 1” top rail design that can accommodate picatinny or ACOG based optics. Made in the USA. Dual-Axis Locking AK optic mounts secure to an AK receiver’s side rail by one of two main methods. The first method uses a rotating lever that has a contoured portion to rotate and lock into a corresponding cut-out in the side rail. Many of the traditional com-bloc optic mounts utilized this design and are broadly referred to as SVD styled mounts. This method is primarily securing the optic mount in the horizontal axis. The second method utilizes a rotating lever to deform the bottom part of the mount to “crimp” onto the side rail. These mounts are not really quick release despite their labeling as such, and this mount deformation makes it difficult to resize the mount to a different side rail on a different rifle. The more modern approach to this method is to use the rotating lever to manipulate a spring loaded clamping bar to compress against the receiver’s side rail to make it quick release capable. These style mounts are prone to “walking” along the side rail with heavy shooting sessions as they only secure the optic mount in the vertical axis. These two techniques have been combined in a patented design to firmly secure our optic mount to an AK’s side rail in both the vertical and horizontal axis to make it Dual Axis Locking. This secure attachment maintains optics zero even with sustained heavy shooting sessions. The clamping bar is also longer than the other optics mounts on the market to provide additional clamping surface contact, and two springs are used in the clamping bar mechanism for increased clamping bar stability and true quick release capability. Low Axis Over Bore The optic mount's low profile hugs the side of the AK receiver and the dust cover to deliver a low axis over bore placement. This allows simultaneous use of the rifle's iron sights if needed. The 12 sided proprietary locking bolt provides for a greater clamping bar tension range, twice that of most optic mounts on the market. This allows for true fine tuning of the clamping bar’s clamping force, and it also ensures proper fitting on side rails of slightly different dimensions on different rifles. Optics zero is maintained. Built Rugged As the AK Itself The optic mounts are machined from a solid block of 6061-T6 aluminum to achieve superior strength, but yet be weight conscious. Its one piece design keeps things simple, maintains structural integrity, and avoids fastener failures or movement that can occur in two piece optic mounts. Likewise the optic mounts were intentionally overbuilt with heavy duty struts to reliably support its integral 2-in-1Picatinny / ACOG rail and any attached optics. Its robust struts then pleasantly blend into the body of the mount which is also rugged enough to withstand whatever abuses are thrown at it. Despite the mounts ruggedness, the edges been rounded and contoured to make it egronomic, snag free and good looking. No wimpy levers here. The throw lever is also heavy duty and is fully inset into the body of the mount to protect it from any snags and accidental release. Let me know if you want to be put on the waiting list. ** I think we can all agree that the SKS triggers are brutal. Suitable for battle conditions but for civilian use, ... These Wolff spring kits make a noticeable improvement. I have seen ads for Mcarbo (two different weights) trigger springs but no hammer spring for $22. Also have seen ads for Wollf spring kits but they're not in stock and you need to go on a waiting list. Mine are "in-stock" and ready to go. Wolff part number 30190, hammer and trigger springs as shown. The picture looks kind of funny, I know. I took two pictures for this ad, in one the writing on the top was clearly visible, but the flash was reflecting right over the spring and you couldn't see it very well. So I combined the two pictures into one. I just purchased a trigger gauge, so I will do the measurements and post the results in a couple of days. I can state for certain that my "re-worked" trigger "feels" much better, but having the ability to measure it is much more credible. Replacement of the springs is not the simplest process. You need some pretty good punches and a vice. If you don't work slow and steady you can bend the pins and have other greif. If you don't want to tackle it on your own, let me know. All stages of production are carried out entirely within the company. The manufacturing process begins with the design of the 3D model, followed by the realization of prototypes and the transfer of data to CNC machines. Through specific CAM software, the machining equipment is able to produce any component in a very short time taking instructions directly from the 3D drawings. Order and organization are common to all factory departments: the workshop with numerical control machines (CNC) for the processing of components machined from solid steel such as receivers and breeches, or for the realization of all types of stocks and other small parts; manufacturing of barrels; die casting and molding of plastic material; ovens and equipment for heat treatment; surface treatment, such as bluing, parkerizing, nickel plating, as well as equipment for grinding and polishing of metal and wood components. The entire manufacturing process is managed and coordinated by a computer system that encompasses all steps of production. This system allows for a thorough control of the execution time, thus keeping production costs tightly monitored. Finally, all firearms are visually inspected and test fired in the shooting range built inside the company before being brought to the packaging area. Thanks to the experience of the personnel, the tradition of artisan craftsmanship cohabits with a modern organization within the same factory, fostering maximum efficiency. Chiappa manufactures a wide range of models.
