French Chassepot Model 1866 Yataghan Sword Bayonet This Yataghan Sword Bayonet and Scabbard have matching Serial #’s (M 8093) Manufactured at the French State Arms Plant of St. Etienne in August 1871 The base of the blade on the left side has the number 1 immediately above the guard. The base of the blade on the right side has a B in a circle and an M with a crown above it in a circle immediately above the guard The guard also has 3 marks on the left side in the curve of the guard a star over the letter V, the letter B in a circle and a T under what could be a star   Overall Length – with blade in scabbard  - 27 7/8” Length of Bayonet – 27 3/8” Length of Grip including the Guard – 4 3/4” Blade Length – 22 5/8”   $200.00   Thanks, Phil

French Model 1874 T Back Sword Bayonet for use on the 11mm M1874 Gras rifle Manufactured at the French State Arms Plant of Tulle in August 1878 The Gras was the last of the French sword type bayonets and was manufactured from 1874 until about 1885. The Bayonet and Scabbard have matching Serial numbers 96363 The left side of the guard is engraved with what looks like half a written L and the numbers 96363.  The scabbard has the same mark and numbers on the left side. Above the number on the guard are 2 diamonds each with the letter B in them. The front of the guard just above the top of the blade has the letters L and P The pommel has the number 2 stamped inside at the base along with other stamps I have not identified. The top of the tang has what looks like a C6 stamped in it. The back of the blade is engraved with M d’Armes de Tulle Aout 1878   The Spring Lock works as designed.   Overall Length – with blade in scabbard  - 25 7/8” Length of Bayonet – 25 3/8” The blade has never been sharpened.
