French Chassepot Model 1866 Yataghan Sword Bayonet

This Yataghan Sword Bayonet and Scabbard have matching Serial #’s (M 8093)

Manufactured at the French State Arms Plant of St. Etienne in August 1871

The base of the blade on the left side has the number 1 immediately above the guard.

The base of the blade on the right side has a B in a circle and an M with a crown above it in a circle immediately above the guard

The guard also has 3 marks on the left side in the curve of the guard a star over the letter V, the letter B in a circle and a T under what could be a star

Overall Length – with blade in scabbard  - 27 7/8”

Length of Bayonet – 27 3/8”

Length of Grip including the Guard – 4 3/4”

Blade Length – 22 5/8”
