Super collectable “S/147” 1938 marked German mfg J.P. SAUER & SOHN Model 98 Mauser bolt action WWII era rifle. Chambered in 8X57MM (8MM MAUSER), 24" barrel, military blued finished, adjustable rear sight, blade front sight with muzzle protector, right handed bolt, manual safety, 5rd capacity, metal floor plate, metal floor plate, bayonet lug, steel trigger guard, leather shoulder sling, and wood stock set with metal butt plate. Ample German Military markings & proofs throughout as pictured! Low serial number “820” marked on the barrel, receiver, & stock with the bolt being electro pencil marked to match. Selling/trading a Gewehrfabrik Danzig Sporting Rifle in 8mm Mauser. Overall it's in nice shape. 24" barrel, controlled round feed Mauser action, twin trigger, bolt and receiver are matching. Steel is in good shape, steel has some varnish remnants on it which will come off with some elbow grease. Has decent colour on the steel, normal fading on the receiver and heavier handled parts. Wood stock is in good solid shape, one chip at the heel which was pinned but has some play. Has finish loss on the wood throughout. Bore is in nice shootable shape. Comes with a ramp/post style front sight and a flip up leaf style rear sight. Could use a good going through if anything as it appears to hav east for a while. Overall a very unique and collectible factory sporter. Looking for $895 shipped. Insurance by request on buyer. Open to all trades. Can send more pictures upon request. This is a VZ24 Czech 8mm mauser with the “E lion” crest The receiver has formed a patina finish to it but the crest is deep and all details of the lion is clear. It is a non matching full furniture rifle. Top hand Gaurd is cracked the bands hold it together. Light/normal wear/scratches on stock wood and metal has not been refinished. Front sight is missing the VZ sight Gaurd a common part missing and not to hard to source, front sight is correct with the sight gaurd channel so the fix is easy as sourcing the part and sliding it in the channel. History: sourcing is a bit hard as many documents were lost/destroyed or not maintained during and post WWII. Some information I Did find on the E lion crest was some can be as old as 1935 but most with records dated and started to show up in 1936 they started to disappear in 1939 and many receivers with the Czech lion were required to be scrubbed after Germany absorbed Czechoslovakia during WWII.
