ANTIQUE (no PAL) TARGET Barrel Smith & Wesson Model 3 .44 S&W Russian Single Action Revolver

Mechanically, this revolver is tight throughout. The 6 1/4" barrel shows a clearly rifled bore with scattered pitting consistent with usual wear in a 130 year old revolver. Cylinder indexing and ejector operation are smooth, the top break latch is tight, and the cylinder locks up rock solid with less than 1mm of play when fired. The single action trigger pull is exceptionally smooth and I find it extremely accurate. It has the adjustable rear factory sight and target front sight rather than the rounded blade.

Finish is original factory nickel with 70%+ remaining. The grips are original set of dark brown Smith & Wesson emblem grips, with the beautiful S&W interwoven logo matching on the right side of the frame. The barrel carries the expected S&W two-line address and patent markings. Serial is matched on the cylinder and butt.

The New Model No. 3 debuted in 1878 and quickly became the gold standard target and service top-break of its era, prized for accuracy and speed of reload.
