Eaton's Carcano Sporter in 6.5 Mannlicher-Schoenauer (Cooey Carcano)

Howdy Townpost. I have for sale a piece of interesting WWI surplus turned sporter for the Canadian market.

This is a very interesting piece of history in my opinion. These are Austro-Hungarian captured Italian carcano rifles and carbines that were later converted in Austria in the late 1920s and early 1930s into supporters to be sold to the international market. Many of these were sold in North America, and in the case of Canada, I'm pretty sure we're almost exclusively sold by Eaton's.

These were rebarreled with a 6.5mm Mannlicher-Schoenauer chamberring. And the bore on this particular example is actually quite sharp and in good condition. 

This gun overall is in poor condition aside from the mechanics and the bore condition which are surprisingly excellent. It features the distinctive double set trigger which still works quite well.

There is a very nice large crack at the wrist of the stock that is held together with some hockey tape, very Canadian. The rear sling swivel hole is filled with some sort of glue and is pretty gross looking and there is a nice little crack at the top of the buttstock at the rear. 

This gun started its life as a Terni made rifle in 1915. It's actually quite rare to have any visible markings remaining on these guns. The Austro-Hungarians tended to do a pretty good job of removing them. But on this particular gun, you can actually see vestiges of the original Italian military markings which I have pictured. This rifle actually has a pretty decent sight picture and the muzzle crown is also very decent. Despite the janky nature of this rifle, I think you could actually get some pretty decent accuracy out of it.
