Rare Winchester Garand 1943
30 06 Semi Automatic Firearms Rifle
**I will have a table at the big Chilliwack gun show March 21-22. Come say hi and view it in person!
A rare Winchester Garand *contract overrun*. The story with these is the US Military assigned serial ranges for Garands based on the quantity ordered. This M1 falls 334 rifles after the official serial range, but the army was in desperate need of rifles. They accepted and paid for all suitable rifles in excess of the initial contract.

Thanks to a US Military collector, and good record keeping, we know this particular rifle's factory history. It was recorded in the Winchester Polishing shop Ledger as:
Serial 1380334 - August 12th, 1943. This would have been the last step before final inspection and acceptance.
This rifle served valiantly for the US, and was later accepted into Danish Army service. The stock is serial matching to the receiver, indicating Danish use post-war.
The rifle also comes with a rare early, UNCUT oprod.
Metal and bore are in good condition. Wood has plenty of service dings/dents as you'd expect from a military rifle. Note the little dents on the right side butt stock is where soldiers would tap their loaded clips into the wood, to make sure rounds were seated in the clip. There is one moderately sized wood gouge, but nothing that impacts function.
