Model 1866 French Yataghan Sword Bayonet and Scabbard – Fair Condition

The scabbard and bayonet do not have matching serial numbers

The scabbard has the initial F and the serial number 28872 stamped at the base on the left side.

The left side of the guard has a mark I can’t identify (possibly an X) and then a space and the serial number 78984

The base of the blade on the left side has the letter B in a circle and below

that the letters P.D.I. or could be P.D.T.

There are no visible markings on the spine of the blade to indicate the Manufacturer or the date of Manufacture.

The release button works as designed.

Overall Length – with blade in scabbard  - 28”

Length of Bayonet – 27 3/8”

Length of Grip including the Guard – 4 7/8”

Blade Length – 22 3/4”
