This ORIGINAL 1895 Marlin rifle was shipped from the New Haven, Connecticut factory on Apr. 29, 1903. Solidly built for the larger calibers, this one in 38-56 cal. and is in NRA fine condition. The receiver now appears as silver although its original case hardening pattern can still be made out. The rest of the metal has taken on a brownish patina. All numbers and lettering are sharp and legible. The barrel a 26 inch long smokeless steel SPECIAL order half round, half octagon version, with a 1/2 magazine. The bore is good with intact rifling and a bit of shine. The wood is a SPECIAL order walnut with a beautiful grain pattern on both the forearm as well as the butt stock. While no longer factory available the 38-56 caliber is equivalent to the 35 Rem. Reloading components are available from various sources. Marlin only produced only 18,000 Model 1895's, in contrast to Winchester producing 160,000 model 1886's which was the Marlin's counterpart and competition. This alone makes the Marlin a comparatively rare firearm. Factory Letter is included. All components that are numbered have been determined to be Matching! This includes the extra fancy stocks which do not show up in the letter. The purchaser will assume all shipping costs as well as any desired insurance. Please respond via email. Looking to sell my Weatherby Vanguard in .243 Winchester. Comes with the Bushnell Engage 3-9x40 optic. I have a very good condition vintage Winchester 1885 in .45 70 that I'm prepared to sell. It started out as a .38-55 and was sleeved to .22 l.r.. I had the 28 inch, half octagon, half round heavy barrel bored and rechambered by Ron K. Smith in Alberta to .45 70 and an aperture sight installed. As you would expect with an RKS barrel, it is accurate. It has correct walnut stocks, refinished, with the heavy crescent butt plate. The action wall has been reduced on the right side to more easily eject spent .22 l.r. shells; Mr. Smith assured me this does not reduce the strength of the action. The lever/trigger guard has been modified to make levering faster. I've got $2800 invested in this rifle which I'd like to recover. I'll split actual shipping costs with the buyer.
