John Forbes of Liverpool Sawhandle Smoothbore Adjustable Trigger .62 Calibre Percussion Conversion Fine Antique Dueling Pistol
Howdy Townpost! I have a truly amazing one of a kind piece here for sale. I bought this for myself in the US over a year ago and I had it professionally restored and fully repaired. I am now looking to sell it. John Forbes, of Liverpool, was gunmaker to His Royal Highness, the Prince of Wales, later King George IV. And according to my research made mostly dueling and target pistols, and some small pocket pistols for only 5 years. Those years being 1805-1810. He spelt his name with I or Iohn and later switched the spelling to a J or John based on public records and some of the other examples of his dueling pistols that have sold at auction. That makes this a very rare and finely made pistol. This pistol would have cost a small fortune at the time it was made. Oftentimes dueling pistols come in pairs but it was cheaper to buy just one if they were offered as a single, and should you encounter someone who has insulted your honor and you demand satisfaction from them, they can bring their own pistol to the duel. The engraving is extremely fine, intricate and skilled. It would have taken many dozens of hours to complete and it was all done by hand. The engraving features drums, banners and spears, floral patterns, sunbursts on the base plate and lock, and a pineapple in the front of the trigger guard, which symbolizes wealth and status. Because this gun is a percussion conversion of the original flintlock mechanism the percussion hammer is engraved in a different style by a different engraver in a more simple floral and fish mouth style of engraving with gold inlay. Every screw is engraved to look like a flower and the escutcheons are also each engraved like a wreath. Overall there is a lot of fine detail with some simpler and less detailed later additions on the percussion mechanism and one spot on the side plate. The gun features gold inlay on the hammer which largely worn away. There is silver inlay on the outside of the breach, and a sterling silver wreath styled band wrapped around the base of the grip and a sliver bead front sight. The ramrod tip (which is a replacement) is silver plated brass, so too are the front stock cap near the muzzle, the rod pipe, cross key, and escutcheon around it are too. The grip baseplate is silver plated steel. The workmanship of this pistol is certainly of a quality of gunmaker worthy enough of being the gun maker of the Prince of Wales. The pistol is located in Calgary AB for local delivery or pickup. Or I can ship it too.

Photo of ANTIQUE SHINY .455/.476 Webley WG Army Retailed by Esteemed John Rigby of London
$5995
ANTIQUE SHINY .455/.476 Webley WG Army Retailed by Esteemed John Rigby of London
Selling because cash is tight and I have another - don't miss your chance to add this beautiful investment to your collection. This superb Webley WG Army specimen was made by P. Webley & Sons circa 1896 chambered in .476 Eley and .455 Webley, and sold by the famed John Rigby & Co. in London. Established in 1775, John Rigby & Co remains to this day a staple of the fine firearms market. Their role in this piece's history adds even further to collector value. These revolvers were very popular private purchases among sportsmen and higher ranking officers around the turn of the 20th century up through WW1 as reliable, accurate, and elegant handguns. With an impressive 6" barrel and mirror-bore rifling, this is a collector's or target shooter's dream. I can add a box of 50 factory new Fiocchi Heritage .455 Webley rounds with purchase of the revolver if you have a PAL. If you don't want these rounds, take $100 off asking price. As a pre-1898 antique, this can be owned and used without any registration or headaches. Visually this revolver retains most of its original shiny dark blue finish with scattered minor loss from 130 years living. The trigger, hammer, ejector, cylinder release mechanism, and hinge screw have a shiny silver "in the white" finish giving a proud and bold contrast. The original checkered square bottom hardwood grips are solid, showing some minor dings and a tiny chip on the right. Sharply stamped "WG Army Model" on the top strap with calibers ".455/.476" Webley and Eley, and the W&S winged bullet logo on the left of the frame. The barrel is hand etched with the retailer address "JOHN RIGBY & Co. 72 ST JAMES'S St LONDON S.W.". The serial 13XXX places manufacture in the mid-late 1890s and makes this one of the most modern antiques you can get. The bore retains shiny, strong rifling with scarce patches of wear. The action functions excellent in single and double action, leaving nothing to be desired. The cylinder indexes and locks up with almost no wiggle for reliable firing and the timing is excellent. Comes with FRT antique papers and repro leather Webley holster. Can come with box of Fiocchi .455 Webley ammo if you have a PAL. Call any time or local meetup Calgary or Vancouver depending where I am. Ships Canada No PAL, 18+ Check my ads for more antiques! I make no claims about the safety of shooting ANY antique. Check with your gunsmith! (Tags: England, Britain, French, MAS, German, Reichs, American, Canadian, Dominion, .44, .45, .450, .476, ACP, Auto, Boxer, Kynoch, Smith & Wesson, Remington)

Photo of Antique shiny BLACK BEAUTY Colt 1878 Frontier Revolver in .476/.455 Webley
$5250
Antique shiny BLACK BEAUTY Colt 1878 Frontier Revolver in .476/.455 Webley
*Sold* Parting with my Colt 1878 revolver. She's single and double action, chambered in .476 Eley which is interchangeable with .455 Webley. These revolvers were most commonly chambered in .44-40 Winchester and dubbed the "Frontier Model", with the .476 chambering being very scarce. They were introduced in 1878 as a larger frame, larger caliber twist on the new Colt 1877 Thunderer/Lightning model, filling a niche most similar to the 1873 Single Action Army, but this time in double action as well. Selling to clear up some moolah for car repairs. Pre-1898 Canada legal antique. This revolver was made in 1885. It has the desirable Pall Mall one line address on the barrel reading "COLT’S PT.F.A. MFG. CO. HARTFORD CT. U.S.A. DEPOT 14. PALL MALL LONDON" with most words still visible. This address is a rarity and was only put on guns intended for the European markets. Serials match 15xxx, with the last 3 digits stamped on the cylinder. The loading gate is a replacement. This gorgeous revolver has an extremely nice black finish with shiny nickeled highlights on the hammer, trigger, and hammer screw. The visual condition speaks for itself. A stunning piece sure to catch eyes, and assurance that the metal will remain protected. The rifling is still strong and defined, showing some scattered frosting. The grips appear original, and are sturdy with minor holster wear on the high points from time on the hip. The action is great. The internals are shiny in factory condition. The cylinder locks up airtight at firing position. I have never seen an 1878 or 1877 with tighter lockup. In the unique fashion of the 1878 model design, this revolver has no cylinder stop allowing slight backrotation when you disengage the action, but it still generally cycles. The loading gate is a bit wobbly, contributing to backrotation. You can read more here: https://www.americanrifleman.org/content/colt-1878-revolver/ A beautiful collector piece and functional revolver. Don't be a stranger, feel free to call or text if you have any questions. Comes with .455 Webley ammo for $125 if you have PAL. Anschutz MPR 64 22LR, EP5 5-25x56 Rifle Scope
Description Small bore hunting match repeaters of the series 64: This model shares the action and design with the series 1416 and 1516, but with specific stock design and fitted with the acclaimed heavy target barrel. The basis of this model is the sturdy Match 64 barreled action, equipped with a target two-stage trigger with adjustable position and the universal Multi Purpose Beavertail stock. The Beavertail stock is widely different from the traditional European hunting stock. Created from the requirements of varmint hunters from the „New World“ this stock combines the advantages of classic target barrel with the wide and easy to handle Beavertail forend. An integrated accessory rail in the forend rounds the versatility of these models. A very field useable sport/target accuracy level variant with a constantly growing popularity. Barreled Action The action is used in the ANSCHÜTZ Luxus repeaters 1416/1417 and 1516/1517. This is a bolt action with cam cocking, claw extractor, additional cartridge holder and ejector. Telescopic sight mounting is by an 0.43" wide ANSCHÜTZ Wave Style V-block dovetail rail or by additional drilled and tapped holes. The sliding safety catch onthe right hand side blocks the trigger sear in the safe position and simultaneously lifts the trigger sear and bolt release latch. The bolt can also be opened in the safe position, allowing unloading the firearm with the safety engaged. Trigger ANSCHÜTZ target two-stage and single-stage triggers have always set the standard for quality, reliability, and precision. It is not without reason that ANSCHÜTZ triggers are known as the best in the world. Many manufacturers offer adapters for integration of this masterpiece of the German gunsmith‘s art into their firearms. The light weight, hardened and finely ground trigger components facilitate fast and consistent trigger release. Barrel • Cylindrical precision match barrel. • Manufactured using an ANSCHÜTZ special process. • Excellent shooting performance. • Recessed muzzle. • Reinforced muzzle with 11 mm wide prism rail for front sight. Sight set This model is delivered without sights. However, the system sleeve and the barrel end are equipped with an 11 mm wide prism rail for attaching a rear sight and front sight tunnel. Stock The lacquered multi-purpose beavertail stock has nothing in common with the classic European hunting stock. The wide, easy-to-use beaver tail fore-end with integrated aluminum profile rail can be quickly and easily added to other accessories such as Handstops can be fitted. The easy-to-grip hallmarking on the handle offers optimal hold even in damp weather. The buttstock with black rubber cap 4709 A is prepared for a clamping piece, which enables cap extensions to be attached. Therefore, this shaft is also ideal for hunting competition shooting. Butt Plate Straight, with guide plate 4709 A-U2/1 and set screws. • Non-slip rubber butt plate 4709A. • Prevents slipping of the butt plate in position. • Stepless hight adjustment.
