Japanese Type 30 Sword Bayonet and Scabbard

Sword bayonet designed for the Arisaka Rifle from 1897 to 1945. 

For use on the 6.5 mm. Type 38 rifle, 6.5 mm. Type I (Carcano) Rifle, and 7.7 mm. Type 99 rifle. This Japanese bayonet also fits on the older 6.5 mm. Type 30 rifle, whose designation this bayonet shares.

The metal Type 30 scabbard was manufactured pre-1942.

Made by the Nagoya Army Arsenal.

The end of the rounded bird’s head pommel has the serial number 74982.

The blade has been partially sharpened at some time in the past.

The release button works as designed
