Merwin, Hulbert & Co. "Medium Frame" 7-Shot Double Action Target /Revolver, .32 H&R​​/ S&W

This is one of the "medium frame" pocket revolver in .32 H&R caliber, but will chamber a .32 S&W Long/Short as well. The gun is in excellent condition. It is a very rare custom target model, with a target bead on the front sight, and large target grips. The original nickel plating is 99.9% intact. The action is smooth and accurate, and the cylinder indexes and locks properly. The bore of the 5 1/2 inch barrel is excellent and  mirror bright, with sharp rifling. There is no pitting and it is in like new condition. The target grips are excellent and undamaged. The lanyard swivel is attached by a bar to the frame. SN 2201, excellent overall

All Merwin, Hulbert & Co. revolvers were actually manufactured by Hopkins & Allen of Norwich, CT, although they may be marked with a New York address. Joseph Merwin opened his gun store in New York City in 1859, with a few partners over the years - Merwin & Bray, Merwin & Simkins, then Merwin, Taylor & Simkins, and eventually Merwin & Hulbert. When Hulbert's half-brother joined the firm in 1872, the name became Merwin, Hulbert & Co. MH&Co were retailers only, and never manufactured or designed any of the guns bearing their name. Joseph Merwin had a 50% interest in Hopkins & Allen, and a seat on the board of directors, and for that reason it would have been logical to use the established manufacturing company to produce this line of guns. The design of them is unmistakable - the mechanism used to open the cylinder, and load the cartridges. The guns are of excellent quality, probably the best Hopkins & Allen ever produced.
